Welcome to Nav Jagriti!

Nav Jagriti is a leading non-governmental organisation working in Bihar, one of the poorest and most problem ridden states of India.

The headquarters of Nav Jagriti is located in Saran district, which is adjacent to Patna, capital of Bihar. Saran, also known as Chhapra, is predominantly rural as nearly 91 per cent of the district’s population resides in villages. Administratively, Saran district has three sub-divisions and 21 development blocks.

Saran district is almost triangular in shape. It is drained by three major rivers Gandak, Ghaghra and Ganga. While the Gandak forms north-eastern border of the district, the Ghaghra joins the Ganga to form southern border of the district. Another major river of Bihar - Son - joins the Ganga in the district. These rivers carry huge quantities of water, particularly during the rains and are responsible for flooding and water logging in a considerable part of the district.

The twin problems of floods and water logging have played a major role in the formation of Nav Jagriti.
